Rival Neolithic Clans Fought over Women

In 2008 researchers published data that indicated that skeletal remains found in Talheim in southwest Germany indicate that young women were kept prisoner after the men of a clan or tribe were executed around 5,000 BCE.

The clash seems to mirror or support some of the ideas that we have been exploring in our clash of cultures and new insights into clashes between Neolithic farmers and hunters articles.

Neolithic Europe was apparently very violent and most likely was a proving ground for change in culture and ultimately what could be called “folk philosophy”, the ways that small groups of people view their worlds. Social upheavals seem to have propelled generation after generation of young men further west in quests for land and mates.

I wish I had time to dwell on this further but I’m very rushed at the moment and merely wanted to make a note here on the blog for future reference.
